The Twin Set Continues To Impress

It is all very good to move ahead with the times and get into trendy and fashionable outfits, accessories and the like. After all, change is the only constant when it comes to fashion and you have to keep pace with it. But certain outfits remain ever so popular and in fact get more than their share of attention with time. The twin set is one such outfit and when you talk to women, a majority of them will vouch for it and would not mind wearing it whenever they get the opportunity. That is because they know that even if they spend good money purchasing one, they would be able to use it for many months to come and the typical danger associated with trendy outfits would not be applicable to it.

So what is it about the twin set that is endearing to so many women?

Well, the fact that it has been around since the 1940s is enough testimony of its longevity for a start. That has been a source of great encouragement to generations over the years. Women in particular are pretty conscious about their choice of outfits and would prefer to stick to something that is time tested and proven. The backing of so many generations before us coupled with the fact that famous celebrities have also endorsed this outfit make compelling reasons for it to be worn. However, one of the main reasons has been the ease with which a twin set can be worn and its easy compatibility to most body shapes.

Though the twin set is just a combination of a cardigan with a short-sleeved pullover and is not very intricate or complex in terms of its appearance, many women over the years have made it an essential component of their wardrobe due to its compatibility with body types as well as the flexibility with which it can be combined with other outfits. As opposed to pretty dull colours and set patterns in the past, the women of today have access to a profusion of styles, patterns, colours and sizes.

It also needs to be mentioned here that the availability of appropriate accessories has also made things a lot easier for women. It is very common to see a pearl necklace or a glittering cocktail necklace worn with the twin set and these do lend their own little charm as a combination. Another change that is in vogue is the sporting of dress slacks, jeans and even shorts with the twin set. Surely, that was something unheard of earlier when the standard used to be either capris or pencil skirts.

The choice of material in today's times too has a role to play in the continued popularity of the twin set. Knitted wool, cashmere and cotton have given way to synthetic materials that are as durable and can also be dyed with a much greater choice of colours. It is not surprising therefore that the twin set continues to impress.
