Womens Twinset - A Must For Every Wardrobe

Very few womens outfits have been able to stand the test of time. Womens twinset is one of those that have managed this feat and ever since its introduction in the 1940s; this outfit has made its way into the wardrobe of most women and is considered a must have by them. Indeed, this is a commendable achievement considering how particular women are with regard to keeping pace with fashion and how they would always like to sport the very latest and trendy garments. This exalted status of the womens twinset also needs to be considered from the point of view of the tremendous competition it has faced and has able to overcome all these years.

Simply put, the twinset is just a matching combination of a cardigan or sweater worn with an outer shell that is usually short-sleeved. The under cardigan is normally much tighter and left unbuttoned to display striking accessories in the form of a cocktail or pearl necklace. When it was introduced, the typical materials that were used to create it were cashmere and wool. This was the classic twinset look made famous by some of the celebrities from the movie world as well. However, the beauty about this outfit has been its easy identification and association with the working class of women as well and women in particular have never perceived it to be an item fit only for the hoi-polloi or the ultra glamorous movie stars. Though some of the traditional work places considered the twinset to be a bit too casual, women continued to wear them for the comfort and elegance it provided.

Over the years, this staid look or combination of the twinset with a skirt or capris made way for combinations that were more striking. Women could now not only wear their twinsets made out of synthetic material like polyester, acrylic and could combine them with shorts, jeans and even slacks. That indeed presents so many other options to the modern woman who would like to present a new face and look every day.

It is worth mentioning here that the movie industry in the past has often used the twinset to convey the nature of a character in their films. If they wanted to show somebody who is conservative, they ensured that the lady wore a twinset that was either grey or pastel coloured. In the last few years however, this definition no longer holds good due to the fact that twinsets are available in a much greater variety of colours and therefore cannot be considered as outfits that are too old fashioned or frumpy.

Young women it must be said are all for experimenting with the womens twinset. They do not mind trying out the retro look and are also quite happy to go for raglan as well as long-sleeved cardigans. The sweater is being used to make a fashion statement and is no longer considered an item that is only worn for its functional value.
